Demons Roots

I finished Demons Roots a few days ago after shelving it for a while, mainly because I was going through depression.
I have to say that at first I was not completely convinced, because in depressive moments I tend to be very reluctant to everything, but I am deeply glad I gave it another chance.
I love the ideas the story proposes from the beginning; I love the focus on the lives of the demons and their current decadent state. I like how the game manages to nuance its intentions, creating a society remorseful of past mistakes, but willing to commit horrible acts if it puts their survival at stake.

This is a story about the liberation of a marginalized continent, where the privileged are seen as the only ones worthy of a decent life, the story of a group of slaves and demons who fight valiantly for their place in the world, one where the weak are forgiven, where not only those with money or power can live, but where all life is able to find peace, a deeply hopeful work in the first instance.
Even so, the work knows how to qualify this feeling: human nature is not as beautiful as one might think; hatred and resentment always dwell in the heart of some percentage of the population. This is born of ignorance, fear, and lies implanted by those who benefit from them. Even so, despite the fact that destiny itself declares that there is no future where dignity is what everyone lives for, it is worth fighting, it is worth rising up against injustice. Those hands oppressed under the yoke of hatred and the strong rise up becoming one, with an unstoppable force that will never be stopped, empowered by those who love, by the longing for a better world; it is much stronger than any.

But above all, I think the most important thing is unity; collectivism is the strongest weapon against injustice and loneliness, while individualism is the opposite. This is how Bless Curse was born.
In the deep despair of oblivion, where only death could be salvation, the need to please hears the prayers of those who suffer. Between failure and error, the decision of misery for the vast majority is seen as the right choice only to bring bliss to the few; it is this need to please to eliminate loneliness that is the greatest danger, being used to bring unhappiness to the many, but deep down, the heart of the indulger is still drowning in its sorrows.

It is genuine relationships that can change the world to a better place; understanding and releasing, suffering disappears and pleasing out of necessity slowly recedes. It is the flame of genuine love that can save the world.
After all the suffering, sacrifice and losses, facing loneliness and fate, our world domination was a great success!

It was a pretty fun game, I had a good time playing it, I plan to play King Exit as soon as possible, from what I could see in Demons Roots I think it's brilliant how both games are connected.
